Snow Monkey Selected to Join the USC Marshall School of Business Startup Incubator

Santa Monica, CA—Snow Monkey, a health food startup reinventing ice cream, has been chosen to join the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business Startup Incubator

Led by Professor Paul Orlando, the USC Startup Incubator offers mentoring, small group classes, peer idea exchange and the full support of the USC community. Snow Monkey is joined by other early stage USC student and alumni businesses as part of the incubator.

Katie Krell, director of impact and partnerships, attended USC as an undergraduate student, never dreaming one day she would return with her startup. “It’s energizing to be back on campus, to walk down Trousdale, to be reengaged with this vibrant community.”

While the USC Incubator is home to a variety of companies from tech to fashion, there are several food startups like Homemade Harvey, fresh crushed fruit in a packet, Pulp Pantry, granola and snacks made with juicery pulp, Lahtt Sauce hot sauce and Desert Farms camel milk that are all facing similar challenges as nascent CPG companies.

Snow Monkey was born at Boston University while both co-founders Rachel Geicke and Mariana Ferreira were still students. After a move to Los Angeles, the co-founders are now putting down roots on the west coast. “Universities drive innovative thinking. It’s a natural fit for Snow monkey to always want to be immersed in an experiential learning culture,” shares Rachel Geicke, co-founder. “We’re excited to find a home with the Trojan community and to be able to give back.”

Snow Monkey is also participating in a Marshall School of Business growth hacking class, where students get work side-by-side with companies to tackle real-life challenges. “We are launching an ecommerce channel,” shares Mariana Ferreira, co-founder. “Shipping ice cream is a real thing, and we are excited to have students help us strategize, test and growth hack our way to success in this category.”

Snow Monkey is actively working to offer Snow Monkey on the USC campus in addition to developing a Snow Monkey campus ambassador program.
